Reading “The girl with the Dragon Tattoo”

I recently began reading a novel written by Steig Larsson “The girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. Now everyone that knows me knows i hate reading novels, however, i came accross this book at work, it was a sample provided to us for a job. Samples we get normally dont get returned, so i decided to take the book and give it a go and to my surprise, i found myself addicted and not wanting to let go of this book.

Im very amazed at myself, for my whole life i’ve always hated reading books, i finished reading Da Vinci code and thought that was pretty good, but still i struggled to the end as i just could not focus on the words after a while. This book, however, is absolutely absorbing. Is this what its suppose to feel like when people enjoy their favourite novels? I feel like a movie is going on in my head drawn by my own imaginations and im enjoying what im seeing.

Lisbeth Salander (what a lovely name), the main character of the novel reminds me a bit of Saber, but is highly original. One of the best characters developed that ive come across. I guess a good thing is ive developed a really positive image of her within my imagination, and this could be different for someone else. Thats what i love about it, though i dont see what she looks like, nothing can change my perception. But the other thing is, my perception cannot really be shared, unless someone reads my mind.

Im about half way through the book now, and i hope i dont finish it soon because its so good. Theres 2 more sequels after this and im looking forward to them too!

  1. haha, sadly, I can’t say I know how you feel…because to date, I have not picked up a novel and enjoyed it. When it comes to reading novels, my attention span is amazingly short.. and I give up pretty soon after. I’m probably missing out…

  2. Chibi – i cant blame you for not having interest, because i was exactly like u (short attention span) just b4 i encountered this book. but this book has changed my life! its become my favourite novel ever =)

  3. Jack’s reading a book?! times have changed including your website layout!
Loving the new colour you have going. Hope all is well, take it easy champ!!

  4. I agree, Stieg Larsson was one of the best writers in the world. The way he put each acter out, and described each one of them are amazing. Lisbeth Salander is my idol now, she’s just awesome! I have read all 3 books, and i love them! 😀
