Japan Trip 2012 – Part 3

May 27, 2012 at 10:12 pm

By this point we have already experienced many aspects of Japan. Tokyo was a modern and trendy metropolis, Kawaguchiko was breathtaking and peaceful and Kyoto was beautiful and traditional. Each city was very different but beautiful in it’s own respect. Here we head down to Osaka, the place I’ve always wanted to visit (mainly for the food). This part we do alot more travelling to different little towns and villages so each part will be fairly short. We used Osaka as our base and went to places all around it.

When we first arrived at Osaka, I wasn’t quite as excited as I was in Shibuya. It didn’t have the funky streets, the strange looking young people all dressed up and the interesting shops. At the heart of one Japans biggest train station (I’m talking about BOTH Osaka and Shin-Osaka stations), I can say that there pretty much nothing around it. That is until we discovered Dotonbori and the never ending aracdes of shops but even that didn’t quite save it. So my first impression of Osaka was a rather disappointing one, but of course that isn’t completely true about the city itself. I still had a great time here, but to compare it to Tokyo is like comparing a sour grape to a sweet wine.

Osaka castle. Nice beautiful castle gounds surrounded by water. (That's not the actual castle in the pic btw!)

Japan Trip 2012 – Part 2

May 27, 2012 at 1:15 pm

Part 1 was mainly about arriving to Japan and slowly settling in and discovering what the place is like. We did a little bit of shopping, eating and sightseeing around Tokyo, but I think personally, part 2 was where the real fun began =)

After staying in Shibuya for a couple days we finally did some proper travelling. I was really excited to see what other parts of Japan looked like. Shibuya blew me away in every aspect. It felt like a perfect city. Clean, friendly, interesting street layouts, funky shops, and a HUGE selection of restaurants and cafes. I even took some time to have a stroll around the neighbourhood whilst Chibi was still in Harajuku, wondering around mindlessly and just observing whatever I came across. It was like a real life theme park. One thing I noticed though is that everyone was like a janitor. There was always someone washing the street, sweeping the floor or wiping a window.

Well that’s Shibuya, it has certainly set the standard! But it was time to move on. We will now depart Tokyo and start making our way down south.

Bus to Kawaguchiko

We hopped on a highway bus at Shinjuku, bound for Kawaguchiko (one of the 5 lakes around Mount Fuji).

Japan Trip 2012 – Part 1

May 20, 2012 at 1:35 pm

Just came back with Chibi from the best trip I’ve ever had in my life. It was an absolute adventure! 3 weeks of sightseeing and discovery in Japan and 1 week of shopping and seeing relatives in Hong Kong. The main highlight of this trip is obviously be Japan as it was my first time visiting.

I’ll start off by saying that Japan did meet my expectations and was a super exciting place to check out! I’m glad my first time was with Chibi because I love how we can just freely travel, discovery and experience everything together at our own pace =). It really is an unforgettable experience.

And as you would’ve guessed, we took lots of pictures! Everything was so interesting we just could’nt resist snapping photo’s of just about EVERYTHING. All photo’s shown are in chronological order.

When we arrived, our mission was to make it to Shibuya. It was a bit of a challenge as we spoke zero Japanese, had all our heavy luggages with us and more importantly – it was getting dark! We caught the Narita Express (my first japanese train experience, OMG it was COOL!), but by then outside was already pitch black. However, little did we know that getting dark would be the least of our concerns…We finally arrived to our first destination – Shibuya.

Shibuya Intersection night

Shibuya station Hachiko exit. Also where the famous Shibuya intersection is. I was blown away when I saw the lights, billboards, people and also Kyari Pamyu Pamyu promoting CANDY CANDY on the main TV advertisment.

Back from Japan, blog gets a refresh

May 12, 2012 at 12:51 pm

Hey there! It’s been a while. Just came back from ‘the best trip’ of my life ever!

I’ll just keep this entry really short. I just gave this blog a complete new look. I feel the need to do so as so much has changed recently. I’d like to keep this blog as simple as possible. All gundam development projects will be moved externally which I have yet to decide, possibly my DA account.

I’ve been busy sorting out all my Japan trip photos. I took about 3000 just on my camera! Really looking forward to writing the blog entry but it may take some time as there’s just so many things I could write about.

That’s it for now!

Off to Japan tomorrow – The place I’ve been so curious about

March 30, 2012 at 11:39 pm

I still can’t believe the time has come. At last, after 2 years of planning, a lifetime of waiting, I am off to Japan tomorrow =). I can’t describe how I feel, but somehow I feel like its some kind of turning moment in life. How do I put it? I guess you could say my Pre-Japan vision era is almost finally over. The “I’ve never seen, been, felt the way of Japan” can no longer be said. It’s like I’m finally watching the last episode of Fate Stay Night!.

In a way I feel sad, but I know I won’t be afterwards. Because I’ve always believed Japan is a wonderful place. But I’m setting my expectations back to neutral gear. I’ll just absorb, take in what I see and appreciate it. I feel like I already know the place as I’ve done so much research on it already. It’s almost as if I’ve already been there. But I’m not gona think about it too much. Just gona enjoy what Japan has to offer and really just go out there and discover it for myself.

Oh man, I can’t wait =)

Adelaide trip 2012

January 9, 2012 at 10:30 pm

Had a great time with the cofa guys down in Adelaide last week. Tho I must admit, there wasn’t a whole lot to do down there, but hey, it’s the people that matters. My cousin gave me an awesome Nikon P7100 as a departing gift and I sure made some good use of it. Here are some pictures of the trip, they’re all taken from my Nikon =)

Our cosy holiday house - Lounge area. Also Burpy and MZ's sleeping couches.
