Avatar in IMAX 3D

Posted on Tuesday, January 26th, 2010 at 11:22 pm

Happy Australia Day! What could be better to celebrate this special day than watching Avatar in IMAX 3D?? well to answer that question, if there was another movie just like avatar, but having gundams instead of stupid slow helicoptors and mechwarriors >D. Anyway, today Chibi and I finally watched the film, and i must say its right at the top of my favourite list of films of all time. By now i think everyone wouldve watched it already so i'll just say a few personal thoughts, but if you havent, i dont want to spoil anything so come back and read it some other time =).

Firstly, the most impressive element i think is the 3D environment and the art direction. My favourite part is when Jake learns the way of living of the Navi, which gives us all a tour through their home and surroundings. I know its just 3D but its simply breathtaking, it just makes even the real scenery around this planet look bland.

Storyline was fantastic too, two thumbs up from me, not gona talk about it too much, i have no negative comments.

This film took 10 years in the making, i think thats an awfully long time...squeezing 10 years of work into 2.75hrs. They even developed a new language just for the Navi can you believe it? But i think it was all worth the effort, they probably made their money back anyway =P.

So if you havent watched the film (and if you are still reading this entry regardless of spoilers), then i suggest you dont wait any longer. stop reading  and start watching!!

P.S if they developed gundams by then, the Navis wouldnt stand a chance..

Spending Christmas at the Gold Coast

Posted on Monday, December 28th, 2009 at 8:30 pm

This year for Christmas, I took Chibi along with my family up to the gold coast. We drove in our 8 seating Carnival, taking up all 8 seats and filling up all luggage space, the car was once again 100% packed so well done! My car is the best, always fits everything! The driving took roughly 10-11 hours including mini breaks and switching drivers. We had 3 drivers (Alan, Dad and myself), Alan and myself doing roughly 4 hrs and my dad 2 hrs. Its funny because out of the 8 people in the car, 7 can actually drive but only the 3 of us did all the driving lol.

After all that night driving, drifting through pitch black forests with some steep hills and tight corners (initial D style, when I am the driver) we finally arrived at Surfers Paradise, only to be raining upon arrival. So we took a gamble and see if we could check in at the hotel early, and to our surprise they left the key for us in the mail box, woohoo! all relieved we unpacked and checked in to the hotel.

Mitsuaki’s Bday party

Posted on Sunday, December 14th, 2008 at 9:50 pm

Mitsuaki organised his bday party at the Sharks hotel in the city. The good thing about this place is, its free lol, since its just a pub with massive space around it. But the place was actually quite nice, clean, friendly people around, great atmosphere and lots and lots of space!.

It was good to catch up with Mits, since we dont see each other very often these days, he's the only person i know that works 7 days a week! give yourself a break dude.

I was also introduced to Hiroaki, Akiko and Kaori who are from Tokyo. Their background is quite interesting. Akiko use to make cakes in japan and she even admits they are very delicious, however she is so sick of making them now she doesnt wanna touch it again o.O". Hiroaki shouted me drink, and then we started talking about gundams! haha we gota catch up again =P.  Kaori finished her beer before i even got half way ~~". They were a very nice bunch of ppl.

Anyway, happy birthday to Mitsuaki! we gota have another jam session
